Stay Comfortable Out on the Waves with these Tips
Climbing aboard a Jet Ski or Sea-Doo is a great way to experience the Gulf, but while out on the water, you want to make sure you stay safe and comfortable. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, these riding tips can help protect you having a rough ride while catching the waves on your watersports rental.
Cover Your Body
If the weather isn’t calling for high temperatures and sunny skies, it would be a good idea to wear protective gear out on the water. If the air is cool, the moisture and spray generated from your ride can do a number on your body and make you chilly quite fast. Plus, wetsuits can also serve as additional protection from sunburn as well.
Protect Your Skin
Speaking of sunburn, don’t forget to put on a good coat of waterproof sunscreen before heading out on the waves. This is essential for your face, neck and ears, as those spots burn the quickest and easiest on sunny days and – even worse – you rarely feel it until it’s too late! It’s also worth remembering that the Gulf is salt water, and after your ride you should wash off your clothing and skin to remove salt residues.
Don’t Forget Your Ears
The wind and moving air during your ride can really do a number on your ears if you have any sensitivity, which can lead to serious discomfort while you ride or an earache when your ride is through. To protect against these problems, put ear plugs in your ears before pushing away from the deck.
Protect Your Sight
While out on the water, it would be smart to cover your eyes with some sunglasses. Not only will sunglasses help you keep an eye on your surroundings in the bright Florida sun, but they will also reduce glare from sunlight reflecting off the water’s surface. Sunglasses will also keep wind, water spray and even bugs from getting into your eyes and disrupting your view – and your fun!
